Delta
is a great one alowing to really work in a collaboritive way
like never before, I Would say also Crosswalk
associate with MOTOR to fill your creativity
using multiple 3D platform mixed environement, Quick
Shade is also Dammed Good for rendering. All is good
and all have a good reason to be in XSI V6 , showing where
Softimage is going.
I think Crosswalk Is great add on this version it allow for
the first time to exchange assets from various package , like
the friendly package, allowing artist to experiment new creative
process with XSI without taking any risk, only to have more
flexibility and access to new set all tools that XSI has to
offer. |

XSI 5.0 was compatible with Ogre3D. Is an exporter for XSI 6.0

is an Open source engine and while there is currently no deidcated
exporter form XSI, it would be very easy to write one with
the new Crosswalk SDK. |

Yes
that feature was build for making possible to work with XSI
in a mixed environement and mixed pipeline. Softimage was the
first to make that step forward for the CG community. |

Softimage more complicate to learn than it's competitors? |

No
, it is a really user friendly package, for example the quickshade
allow artist to dirrectly build up complex effect with an interractive
feedback. all is made in XSI to work in a non linear way, giving
the artist the possibility to build his own Methods. If you
are starting in 3D it is probably the easiest package to learn.
If you have experience with another 3D app like Maya - we have
dedicated workflow for them, keyboard mapping, camera navigation
and mouse movement. |

Mental Ray is very well integrated, but is it possible to plug
another render engine in Softimage? |

For
sure the mental Ray technology is the best integration in the
market you can use real time engine to render to files and the
render core of XSI alows other render rngine 3Rd party to get
integrated easely if they want but not in Standart. and the
new rendering API allows any 3rd party renderer to be easily
integrated, where they will automatically have the benefit of
the render region, render passes, shaderballs, etc. |

few years, Softimage has a very attractive price with Foundation.
Does it reallyy help growing the user of Softimage? |

For
sure with a powerfull package such as XSI foundation more and
more user give it a tr , and Adopt it .Foundation is the best
"bang for the buck" in the industry. Many small production
houses or cost conscious people use it extensively. Because
of this, it is now everywhere! |

users of Softimage, what is the port of users using it for realtime
3D (games or serious games)? |

For
that the latest example what I can say is the recent press release
of EA, giving an idea where the wind is turning ( Link)
also we can Name , Valve, capcom and Much more to come, as XSI
is the technolgy that adress the best of needs for NexGen Platfrom
and Console. |
