| Q2 |
What
is the workflow of Eon Professional? |
| A2 |
1.
3D import can be done in 3 different ways :
A. Export from 3ds max through
the free plug-in EON
Raptor to EON Professional.
B. Direct import to EON
Professional (importer licensed from Okino)
C. Import hundreds of different
3D formats (including Catia, Pro/E etc) directly to EON Professional.
2. Start the “programming” in EON Professional
and create interactivity, add Cg shaders, physics, optimize
geometry and textures.
3. Publish your content either to the web, embed it in a powerpoint,
show it on a an auto stereoscopic screen without glasses,
use passive or active stereo, use it in a CAVE, do virtual
assembly with an HMD and trackers. Please see work flow and
EON products in image below. |

|
| Q3 |
Is
it possible to import 3D data from DCC software such as 3ds
max, maya and XSI? |
| A3 |
We
have a free plug-in for 3ds max called EON Raptor. Currently
we support up to version 8 and support for max9 and 10 will
be available in September. |
| |
|
| Q4 |
Can
3D mesh be optimized by Eon Professional? What kind of ratio
can Eon Professional's optimzer can achieve without visual impact
? |
| A4 |
Yes,
you can optimize both mesh and texture in EON Professional.
The ratio depends on how the model look, how many polygons is
has and how well it is modeled so it is impossible to say the
ratio. If you go to www.eonreality.com/developer
and sign up you can try the software your self. After you
have done your optimization you need to save the file to a distribution
format (.edz) for the optimization to take place in case you
test the software. Tutorials are available in the Help. Click
a node in the node library and press the F1 key to get a description
to use it. If you install EON Professional you have a lot of
samples in the installation folder. |

| Q5 |
Do
you plan to support Collada to import 3D assets such as mesh,
material, shaders and animations? |
| A5 |
We
have had discussions to support Collada for the next version
of EON software but we have not decided release date. We have
about 15 direct import formats but the best way to go is to
use our product called EON CAD (based on Deep Exploration) that
can directly import hundreds of 3D formats directly into EON
Professional. |
| |
|
| Q6 |
Is
it easy to add interactions to a 3D objet? |
| A6 |
The
strength of EON is the easy to use graphical user interface
with drag and drop. You have a library of 100+ nodes with predefined
behaviors and when you need more advanced programming you can
create your own functionality with the script node using VB
or Jscript. And if you need even more you can use the SDK to
create totally new features. |
| |
|
| Q7 |
About
the learning curve : is Eon Profesional easy to learn? |
| A7 |
Yes,
it is easy and especially compared to our competitors like Virtools
and Quest3D. |
| |
|
| Q8 |
Eon
Reality can publish to the web. Do you plan to support FireFox
browser? |
| A8 |
We
do support it even if it is currently not possible to send event
to and from the website using Firefox but if you have all interactions
created inside the EON application is works just fine in Firefox
also. So event sending between website and EON app currently
works only with IE. |

| A9 |
The goal is to establish a de facto standard for real-time visualization

| |
|
| Q10 |
There
are a lot of initiatives such as VRML, U3D/PDF 3D for visualisation.
What make IDC Consortium approach different? |
| A10 |
The
IDC consortium consists of large leading technology companies
with a network of Interactive Digital Centers that can implement
business solutions using interactive 3D. The consortium also
has an advisory board with members from leading fortune 1,000
