| Q1 |
Did
Cinema 4D's users ask for the support of 3d-web technologies
? |
| A1 |
Yes. |
| |
|
| Q2 |
Can
Cinema 4D XL7 become a major 3d-web conception tool ? |
| A2 |
We
hope so. Concerning the word "conception tool": Any
app like C4D cn only be a modeling and perhaps an animation
tool, as most 3D web formats (such as Shockwave 3D or Adobe
Atmosphere which is mased on Metastream/Viewpoint) need a separate
appllication, to put all 3D elements together, e.g. Director. |
| |
|
| Q3 |
The
Shockwave 3D export will be released soon. What would be the
features of the export ? Geometry, animations, textures, lights,
camera, sound will be preserved in the new format ? |
| A3 |
-
Light are converted and exported
- Cameras are converted and exported
- Sound is not supported in W3D
- geometry is converted (if needed, e.g. from parametric objects)
and exported
- textures are converted and exported (even though W3D uses
them bit differently than C4D's own renderer)
We are actually working on the animation export. W3D only uses
position, scale and rotation, plus a very limited bone functionality.
Camera and Light animation is only very limited in W3D and animation
needs to be pre-processed in order to get proper results. |

|
| Q4 |
A Viewpoint
plug-in already exist, what about other 3d-web formats such
as Cult 3D ? |
| A4 |
Actually
there's nothing planned for it. MAXON wanted only to focus in
W3D, as we think it is the most promising solution for 3D web
content. We had a developer offering us the Viewpoint exporter,
so of course we now offer that, too. If we get someone doing
a good export for other formats, we'd love them to contact us.

|
| Q5 |
Will
Cinema 4D Go be able to generate 3d-web files ? |
| A5 |
No.
C4D GO will still remain Version 5 and is not planned to be
upgraded. We focus onthe professional tools from Release 6 on
with CINEMA 4D ART and XL. |
| |
|
| Q6 |
What
are the latest improvements of the polygon reducer ? |
| A6 |
We
maily wanted to have a poly reduction, which preserves / creates
a VERY HIGH mesh quality. As this tool will often be used for
simplifying objects to later on use them with the subdivision
surfaces technology of e.g. W3D. For tht, an abssolute proper
mesh is needed. Nevertheless, the speed and interactivity of
the reduction is still very high.

|
| Q7 |
What
do Maxon think about the emergent 3D web market ? |
| A7 |
There's
has been a lot of talk about it since years, but what has happened
up to now is not at all, what was promised by "analysts".
But we hope, that with a breakthrough technology like Shockwave
3D, we now have the technological base for a wide usage of 3D
Web content. |
| |
|
| Q8 |
Maxon
has released several versions of Cinema 4D (Art for designers...).
Is a version specific for web-3D envisaged? |
| A8 |
No.
All versions of C4D offer the needed functionlity for 3D-Web.
The diffrence between ART and XL Release 6 is simply the animation.
If you do stills, ART is all you need, if you wanna move somethin'
XL is your tool. |
| |
|
| Q9 |
What
will be the other key features of release 7.0 (short)? Why should
all users of Cinema4D update their packages ? |
| A9 |
There
are again tons of new functions, which can be viwed in a complete
list on our website www.maxon.de - but here are a few highlights.
C4D XL 7 offers probably the worlds fastest radiosity rendering
engine, Caustics and volume Caustics (for superb light reflexions),
a unique Multipass Renering, which offers the chance to change
a lot oof things even after rendering (e.g. Highlights, Shadows,
even every Lightsource can be modified and adjusted without
re-rendering!!!). Fruthermore a 3 client NET license is included
(for network rendering) and the SLA shader collection of BhodiNUT. |

|
| Q10 |
When
will Maxon XL7 be avialable ? |
| A10 |
CINEMA
4D XL Release 7 will be shipping in a few days from now! :) |
